Irene vs. Vermont 9/2/11

Southern VT has been hit hard by Irene. Downgraded to a tropical storm yet it dumped several inches of rain in a short period and devastated roadways and small town homes and businesses. Due to the storm downgrade, hurricane relief may not be available. Apparently there are big flaws in our systems. Assistance in some form should be available no matter what the form the destruction is delivered when there is a natural disaster.

I know some shop owners in Wilmington, VT and their livelihood has been devastated and they are not sure what to do. It has not fully sunk in what happened just a few days ago. It happened quickly, destroyed business, homes, and washed away roads – some in multiple places, and then the sun came back out. Unfortunately the sunshine will not help with rebuilding. If you have ever visited VT or would like to, you may be compelled to make donations to help restore the tranquility. There are many organizations ready to raise funds and plan events to help out the communities that were hit hard.

Vermont, in time, will be the winner. Thanks, Brad.
